Gernos Fawr is a 300+ year old farm on the side of the Preseli hills in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The current farmhouse was probably built as a Shire house (or gate house) to mark the boundary of the Barony of Caemaes, there is evidence of older buildings and possibly even a mill.

The traditional long barn which now houses both the Refuge and cottage is most likely the oldest building on the farm. The lower section had been converted to a milking parlour in the 1950’s. When milk churns were replaced with Trankers it ceased to be a viable milking farm and sat uninhabited from the early 1980’s. We renovated the Cottage in 2005/6 and completed the Refuge in 2024.

We have 21 acres of un-spoilt heath and moorland where we keep a few sheep, chickens, ducks and a goose called Mother. With a bridleway running through the farm we are perfectly situated for walking and cycling (gravel, mtb and road)

There’s a wealth of fora and fauna and if stargazing is your thing there is little light pollution. There’s lots to do without even going out. But if you do Newport is only 5 miles and Fishguard is 10.

Both the refuge and cottage are heated by an air source heat pump.

Stunning views, moody clouds, big skies and sunsets add magic to your adventure here in Pembrokeshire
